„V“ heisst der Molch mit der Maske, der nach Guy Fawkes‘ historischem Vorbild am 5. November die Londoner Houses of Parliament sprengen will. Seine persönliche Rache verbindet er mit der Befreiung des englischen Volkes, das seit einigen Jahren unter der Diktatur von Partei und Kanzler leidet. Zufällig trifft er dabei Evey (Natalie Portmann), wodurch sich sowohl deren Leben als auch Vs ursprüngliche Pläne verändern.
Eigentlich ist V for Vendetta von den Wachowski Brothers (The Matrix & die beiden miserablen Fortsetzungen), Regie führt hier jedoch erstmals James McTeigue, der dank seiner Jobs als Assistant Director bei allen Matrix Teilen und bei Episode II – Attack of the Clones (!) eine solide Ausbildung vorzuweisen hat. Das Ergebnis kann sich sehen lassen: spannend bis zum Schluss, die Action wohl dosiert. Was Hugo Weaving (Agent Smith, Elrond) als V mit Gestik und Stimme bzw. Dialog leistet, ist beeindruckend; hoffentlich gilt das auch für die deutsche Synchro. Mit einem imdb- Rating von 8.2 findet aktuell 8.0 fand sich der Film kurzzeitig sogar in den Top 250 wieder.
Ich kann den Kinobesuch also auf jeden Fall empfehlen. Einziger Schönheitsfehler ist die Art und Weise, in der V bei Eveys Emanzipation nachhilft. Das war mir doch etwas zu fragwürdig (ohne jetzt zu viel zu verraten).
Nachtrag: Agitpop entlarvt mich als oberflächlich und naiv. 😉
Wearing a Guy Fawkes mask, „V“ wants to blow up Houses of Parliament, too. Thus, he would have his own personal revenge and at the same time free the English who have suffered from tyranny of the party and the chancellor for a few years. Meeting Evey (Natalie Portmann) is a coincidence, but changes both her life and V’s plans.
V for Vendetta is a Wachowski Brothers movie (Matrix & poor sequels) not directed by themselves but by newbie James McTeigue, who worked as assistant director on all Matrix parts and on Episode II – Attack of the Clones (!). The result is stunning: very thrilling and with perfectly dosed action. Hugo Weaving (Agent Smith, Elrond) as V makes perfect use of gesture, voice and dialogue. Rating 8.0 at imdb at the moment, the movie briefly entered the Top 250.
I do definitely recommend seeing it at the cinema. The only thing that bothers me about it is the way V helps with Evey’s emancipation, that is a bit too questionable for me (no spoilers here).
