We fuckin‘ hate Millwall !
Green Street Hooligans (Trailer) just like The Football Factory did not make it into German cinemas. Both movies are available on DVD though, Green Street starting in Germany on 18.10. (rental version, as „Hooligans“).
Matt Buckner („Frodo“ Elijah Wood) gets wrongfully expelled from Harvard just two months away from graduation, resigning and not taking actions against the charges of drug possession. In London he visits his sister and gets to know Pete Dunham. Pete leads the GSE Green Street Elite, West Ham United’s firm. Although not spying on them, he conceals his job of being a journalist from his new friends…
The Football Factory is about Tommy Johnson (Danny Dyer). Twenty something and disillusioned, he lives for the weekends with alcohol, drugs, women and Chelsea football, until he is in a very subtle way forced to question himself: Is it worth it ?
Climax for the West Ham- and the Chelsea-hooligans in both movies is the cup match versus London city rival Millwall, who’s fans are worst of all. The films are not about football, but about friendship, loyalty and the meaning of life (!!).
Personally, I like Football Factory better, because overall it captures the atmosphere better (having a cool soundtrack adds up to it) – but in any case, you should watch them both !
I was enjoying the English audio but only got half of FF. Without knowing them, I can still advise against the German versions.
We fuckin‘ hate Millwall !
